East China’s Anhui province will continue to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) development and expand investment in and cooperation with countries involved in the BRI this year, Anhui Daily reports.

The province aims to achieve a 10 percent increase in investment in those countries and a year-on-year rise of 8 percent in the turnover of contracted projects, according to the Department of Commerce of Anhui Province.

The province will step up efforts to set up plants for producing automobiles, photovoltaic equipment, textiles, household appliances and building materials in developing countries with considerable market potential but insufficient production capacity.

It will also strengthen international cooperation in production capacity and boost the export of related equipment.

Meanwhile, local contractors will be encouraged to take part in infrastructure projects in BRI countries as the province enjoys advantages in industries like power supply, water conservancy, transportation as well as the building industry.

Leading enterprises in the service sector will continue to make investment in commerce, trade, logistics, tourism, culture, education and information technology in countries along the Belt and Road.

The province will encourage high-tech companies to introduce China's technology, standards and system solutions to those countries. In addition, local service outsourcing firms will be urged to carry out research and development, design and brand building, and establish international (offshore) execution facilities and R&D centers in those countries.
