The opening ceremony of a provincial reading campaign was held in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, on Thursday.
As this year marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the campaign focuses on the reading of key publications on the history of the CPC, the country, reform and opening up, and socialist development.
A speech contest with the theme of reading the history of the CPC will be held during the campaign, in addition to a recital and writing contest among teenagers and a recital competition among college students.
The province will make full use of two reading platforms: one recommending excellent publications and the other providing digital publications.
Meanwhile, the province will launch a series of activities to benefit rural readers, such as a program featuring publications on rural vitalization and a campaign to promote rural vitalization through rural libraries.
At the opening ceremony, local authorities unveiled the results of the survey on the provincial residents’ reading in 2020. Anhui’s reading index reached 70.58 points last year, higher than the national average, according to the results.
