China has added or restored more than 800,000 hectares of wetlands over the past decade.

China became a party to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in 1992.

Since then, China has made great efforts to protect and restore wetlands and the ecological conditions have continued to improve.

Currently China has 64 sites designated as "Wetlands of International Importance" (Ramsar Sites).
