
Anhui’s fixed-asset investment in transport reached 340.5 billion yuan ($51.9 billion) from 2016 to 2019, exceeding its target for the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), according to the Transport Department of Anhui Province.
The fixed-asset investment in the transport industry is expected to hit 410.0 billion yuan during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), or 137 percent of the target, Zhang Yi, head of the department said at a press conference on November 20. The eastern Chinese province ranked 8th in the country and took the first place in the Yangtze River Delta region with 218,000-kilometer roads as of December 31, 2019. Construction started on 37 expressways with a total mileage of 222.8 kilometers and 12 ones stretching 631 kilometers were completed during the period. The total mileage of expressways in service will reach more than 4,900 kilometers at the end of 2020. Every county in the province will have expressway access in 2021. Five airports are in operation in Anhui. In addition, the Wuxuan Airport is expected to be completed at the end of 2020 and the airport projects in Bengbu and Bozhou have been approved. The province’s civil transport airports saw the annual passenger and freight throughput rise 16.85 percent and 14.09 percent on average, respectively.
