The feasibility report on an intercity railway linking Huaibei, Suzhou and Bengbu in East China’s Anhui province has been approved by the provincial government and China State Railway Group Co.

The railway will stretch more than 162 kilometers from Huaibei to Suzhou and Bengbu, all of which are located in the northern part of the province.

The project is expected to cost 25.59 billion yuan ($3.88 billion). Four years will be taken to complete it. Upon completion, trains will be allowed to run at a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The rail project will improve regional railway network, better connect the northern part of the province with Hefei, the provincial capital, and promote the economic and social development of the cities along the railway.
