A 168-km railway will be built from Lu’an, Anhui province, to Anqing, also in the eastern Chinese province, according to its first environmental impact assessment (EIA).

The EIA has been carried out by China Railway Shanghai Design Institute Group Co. commissioned by Anhui Provincial Railway Investment Co.

The railway is part of a longer line linking Fuyang of the province with Jingdezhen in East China’s Jiangxi province.

With an estimated investment of 24.5 billion yuan (about US$3.5 billion), the rail project is scheduled to be completed in five years.

Upon completion, the railway will allow trains to run at a speed of 250 km per hour. It will pass Lu’an city, Huoshan county, Yuexi county, Qianshan city, Huaining county and Anqing city.

The Fuyang - Lu’an -Anqing - Jingdezhen rail line will connect five popular tourist attractions - Tiantangzhai, Dabie Mountains, Tianzhu Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain and Huangshan Mountain. The project will also give a boost to the revitalization of the Dabie Mountains region.
