Rail authorities planned to open the high-speed rail line linking Hefei, east China’s Anhui province, and Hangzhou in its neighboring Zhejiang province on June 28, according to the Development and Reform Commission of Anhui Province. The rail is part of the 794.55-km railway running from Shangqiu in central China’s Henan province to Hangzhou via Hefei. The Shangqiu-Hefei section started operation in December 2019. The railway passes seven cities in Anhui - Bozhou, Fuyang, Huainan, Hefei, Ma’anshan, Wuhu and Xuancheng. With a total investment of 99.25 billion yuan, the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou railway allows trains to run at a designed speed of 350 km per hour.
