An export processing zone in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, had a strong track record in 2018, climbing to the third place in the country, Anhui Daily reports.
The Hefei Export Processing Zone registered $6.9 billion in foreign trade value last year, up almost 50 percent from a year earlier. Its imports and exports made up 10.9 percent of the provincial total, compared to 8.6 percent in 2017.
Established in August 2012, the zone is the first one in Hefei that is under special customs supervision. There are 23 export-oriented enterprises and logistic companies in the zone.
The growth was largely spurred by undertaking industrial transfers. LCFC (Hefei) Electronics Co., a joint company of Lenovo Group and Compal Electronics Inc, produced more than 17 million laptops in 2018. It maintained the status as the province’s largest foreign trade dealer last year, with its imports and exports hitting $6.8 billion.
