Zhang Chang’er, Anhui’s top political adviser, met with non-voting delegates from Taiwan and overseas to the ongoing 2nd Session of the 12th Anhui Provincial Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Tuesday.
Zhang said guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, the province achieved encouraging results in 2018 as its economy grew better than expected and also faster than the national average.
With the implementation of national initiatives such as the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, the province faces a great and historic opportunity for further development and it is therefore urgent to reach a consensus and build synergy, said the official.
Zhang voiced hope that Taiwan compatriots and overseas Chinese will leverage their strengths to do more work that can help improve relationship and promote development.
The provincial political advisory body will continue to maintain close ties with Taiwan and overseas compatriots, provide better services for them and foster a sound environment for those in Anhui, Zhang said.
Speaking at the meeting on behalf of the delegates, Han Zhongchao, director of the National Stem Cell Engineering Technology Research Center, said he is happy and excited about Anhui’s remarkable achievements in economic and social development. He pledged to continue to participate in the province’s reform and development, and make contributions to its high-quality growth.
