In Tongling, a city in East China's Anhui province, there is a wharf-turned-bookstore by the Yangtze River, the longest waterway in the country.
Covering an area of 516 square meters, the bookstore was renovated from an abandoned wharf and opened on December 8, 2015.
It was shortlisted for Architectural Creation Award 2016 by the Architectural Society of China.
More than 5,800 books are available to readers. In addition, customers who borrow a book here are allowed to return it to the Tongling Municipal Library, and vice versa.
The bookstore receives roughly over 800 visitors on a daily basis, including foreigners and out-of-town tourists.
Cultural activities like reading salons and concerts are launched in the bookstore at irregular intervals.
