With a GDP of 19.5 trillion yuan ($3.08 trillion) last year, the region, located at the convergence of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Zone, accounted for roughly 25 percent of the nation’s GDP, official statistics show.
Government leaders of Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui gathered in Shanghai on June 1, agreeing on a three-year action plan for the integrated development of the region and nearly a dozen collaborative projects to increase its competitiveness on a global scale.
The event is jointly launched by anhuinews.com, eastday.com, zjol.com.cn and jschina.com.cn under the guidance of the publicity department of the municipality and the provinces.
The report team visited Shanghai and Zhejiang in June.
Their journey in Anhui lasts from July 2 to 6, with Hefei, Chuzhou, Wuhu, Xuancheng, Anqing, Chizhou, Tongling and Ma’anshan as their stops.
Coverage focuses on the integration of those cities into the Yangtze River Delta in major fields like transport, energy, finance and urban cooperation.
