1.727 tons of gold were produced in East China’s Anhui province in May, up 18.9 percent from a month earlier, statistics from the local gold administration showed.
From January to May, the province’s gold output dropped 4 percent year on year to hit 7.646 tonnes.
The top five gold producers including Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Co. accounted for 84.4 percent of the provincial total, down 7.8 percent year on year.
Major gold companies recorded 4.68 billion yuan in output value in the Jan-May period. They registered 3.39 billion yuan in revenue and reaped profits of 217 million yuan.
Wanjiang Gold Industrial Zone which consists of cities of Tongling, Chizhou, Wuhu and Hefei produced 6.756 tonnes of gold, making up 88.4 percent of the provincial total.
