Gu Xinyue, 25, became the first female pilot participating in flight operation in East China's Anhui Province in February 2018.

When she decided to become a pilot, her family worried about her because it's a tough career for a woman to succeed in.

As a cadet, she began her studies and training at China Eastern Airlines' Anhui Branch.

So far, Gu has joined flights from Hefei, capital of Anhui, to Xiamen and Beijing, and she works as a liaison.

The 2017 Annual Report on the Development of Chinese Civil Aviation Pilots said that the number of female pilots in domestic transport airlines has reached 713.

"It is undoubted that women can fly a large passenger aircraft safely. Though women are inferior in physical strength, they are more careful and patient than men. The number of female pilots will most certainly increase in the future," Gu's instructor said.

Gu, with confident countenance and professional skills, said that her biggest wish now is to accumulate more experience and become a qualified captain.
