Li Guoying, governor of East China’s Anhui province, called for concerted and proactive efforts to ensure the success of an upcoming international convention.
The 2018 World Manufacturing Convention (WMC) is slated to be held in Hefei, capital of the province, from May 25 to 27. The event will be launched together with the 2018 Anhui Investment & Trade Expo.
The events are part of the province’s efforts to implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, accelerate the development of modern economic systems and open up at a higher level, Li said at a preparatory meeting which brought many senior officials together in Hefei Monday.
An overall plan for the events was unveiled at the meeting.
Li urged relevant parties to make thorough preparations for the convention and the expo according to the plan, asking for special preparations for the opening ceremony, keynote forums and exhibitions.
The province should provide quality services to visitors to the events, enhance environmental protection and ensure safety, said the governor.
Li also called for wide publicity for the convention and the expo, requiring related departments to elaborately make the promo video and better plan the whole publicity campaign.
Hefei should step up efforts to be a good host, while other cities in the province should participate actively, Li added.
The events will focus on new industries including quantum communication, information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy vehicles, intelligent robots and intelligent home appliances.
About 2,000 people, including heads of Fortune 500 companies and the world's top 100 manufacturers, are set to attend the events.
