Mayor of Bengbu Municipal People’s Government Wang Cheng met with Dr. Michael Condry, vice chairman of the Board of Global Alliance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs on the afternoon of April 1. Then he attended the nameplate-unveiling for Carlson International Innovation and Technology Park.
Wang Cheng expressed warm welcome to Dr. Michael Condry and his delegation, and briefed conditions and economic and social development of Bengbu to them. He said that Bengbu is an important part of Hefei-Wuhu-Bengbu National Self-dependent Innovation Demonstration Area. Bengbu has obvious advantages in traffic and it is now a nationally important comprehensive transportation hub city.
“In this nationally important regional central city, which is also the central city in the Huaihe River Basin and the central city in the northern Anhui Province, the technological innovation is leading the rapid economic and social development of Bengbu,” the mayor added.
The mayor mentioned that Bengbu is currently making every effort to coordinate a harmonious industrial development. Bengbu has a strong demand for resources in real economy, scientific, technological innovation, and modern finance, especially in professional personnel. He also said that the Global Alliance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs has professional technical strength and innovation capability. Therefore, he concluded that the space for cooperation between the both parties is vast and the potential is huge.
Wang Cheng noted that Bengbu has obvious technical advantages in float glass. Relying on silicon-based new materials and by extending the industry chain to farther upstream and downstream, Bengbu is speeding up the construction of a distinctive “China’s Silicon Valley.”
The mayor spoke highly of the Carlson International Innovation and Technology Park, saying it is an innovation park that attaches great importance to professional personnel resources exchange. He said he hopes that Dr. Michael Condry can learn more about Bengbu, start cooperation in the field of industrial development, and carry out professional personnel exchanges so as to promote cooperation between the two sides to a higher level.
Dr. Michael Condry expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from Bengbu in his response. He said that he will make good use of his advantages in technical research and management, introduce the innovation and entrepreneurship system of the Silicon Valley to Bengbu, and encourage more startup projects, innovative talents, outcomes from and platforms of scientific research transformation to Bengbu.
