Foreign trade in East China’s Anhui province has maintained good momentum for growth with continuously improved structure since the beginning of this year, data from Hefei Customs showed.
Between January and October, the province registered 293.46 billion yuan (US$43.88 billion) in foreign trade value, up 32 percent year on year.
The province’s exports rose 20.5 percent year on year to 169.84 billion yuan, while its imports stood at 123.62 billion yuan, representing an increase of 51.9 percent.
Exports in Anhui grew much faster than the national average of 4.4 percent, bringing the province to the 6th place in the country.
Meanwhile, the province continued to optimize foreign trade structure, which led to a higher proportion of processing trade and faster growth in foreign contracted engineering exports.
Customs statistics showed processing trade exports reached 66.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 34.3 percent, and exports related to overseas contracted projects jumped 56.3 percent to hit 1.4 billion yuan.
