More than 400 pharmaceutical experts and scholars from around the country gathered in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, on Monday as the 4th China Pharmaceutical Innovation and Development Forum opened here.
Hosted by China Pharmaceutical Association, Anhui Pharmaceutical Association, Anhui University of Chinese Medicine and Anhui Academy of Chinese Medicine, the forum focused on how to innovate and upgrade the Chinese medical industry, and how to establish and improve the management, assessment and standardization systems of Chinese medicine.
Among the participants were renowned experts from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering like Liu Changxiao, who created China’s first pharmacokinetical lab.
China has made significant achievements in using modern technology to develop traditional Chinese medicine. The discovery of berberine, ephedrine and particularly artemisinin represents a great contribution the Chinese medicine sector has made to human society.
As the domestic pharmaceutical sector is facing new changes and challenges, the forum calls for further researches on Chinese medicine and more efforts to develop new drugs.
