More than 50 well-known Chinese writers may be spotted in book stores or school campuses around East China's Anhui province as the 2017 Huangshan Book Fair is slated to run from August 28 to September 15.

As a major cultural event, the fair will last as long as 19 days, much longer than last year’s two days.

The organizing committee has sent invitations to 50-odd celebrated writers, including Han Shaogong, the 2011 Newman Prize for Chinese Literature winner, and Xichuan, a famous contemporary Chinese poet. They will not only appear at the main venue in Huangshan, a city home to the world-renowned Huangshan Mountain, but also visit bookstores and schools around the province to give lectures, attend book-signings and interact with readers.

The fair will also attract 600-plus publishing houses and libraries across the country and showcase over 100,000 books.

The irregularly-held event was initiated as early as 1987.
