Li Jinbin, Party chief of East China's Anhui province, called for greater understanding and deeper cooperation between the province and German auto giant Volkswagen(VW).
The senior official made the remark while meeting Jochem Heizmann, president and CEO of Volkswagen China, in Hefei, the provincial capital, on Thursday.
Li said Anhui and Germany have conducted amicable exchanges and close economic cooperation, as many German businesses poured their capital in Anhui, and a lot of Anhui-based companies expanded their reach into the European country. Both sides achieved win-win results and common prosperity as a result.
As the largest car maker in Europe renowned for its strong market competitiveness and great brand recognition, Volkswagen is valued by the province as an important partner, Li said, adding that he hopes the two sides will deepen cooperation while boosting understanding.
The official, in particular, urged the partnership between the auto giant and Jianghuai Automobile Co(JAC), a homegrown automobile manufacturer based in Hefei, to produce up-to-standard, concrete and efficient results.
His statements were echoed by Heizmann, who pledged to push forward comprehensive and diversified cooperation with JAC.
With a long history and a complete modern industrial system, Anhui is highly innovative and has enormous potential for growth, said the CEO.
According to a memorandum of understanding signed last year, Volkswagen and JAC will set up a joint venture on new-energy vehicles.
