A forum on local intangible cultural heritage was held in Huanglu, a township in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui Province, on November 25, 2016.
Organized by the Municipal Publicity Department and the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Film, Press and Publication, the forum, in its third year, aimed to bring cultural heritage closer to local residents and better protect and pass down those crafts.
The event attracted more than 30 craftsmen from around the city, who are recognized as successors of intangible cultural heritage items like Wushan Iron Writing, Luzhou Wood Carving and Luzhou Ma's Shadow Puppetry.
Visitors to the forum were not just visitors. They voted for their favorite craftsmen, as the experts present did. That's a way to increase communications between intangible cultural heritage and common people, said the organizers.
The city is home to four items of national intangible cultural heritage, including Lu Opera and Chaohu Folk Song. In addition, another 15 ones are recognized at the provincial level, while 87 ones at the city level.
