52 villages in East China's Anhui Province have been listed in the fourth collection of Chinese traditional villages, Anhui Daily reports.
Among them are Heyue in Tongling City and Zhenjiang in Huangshan City. In addition, some villages in cities of Chizhou, Anqing, Xuancheng, Ma'ashan and Lu'an win the same national honor.
Traditional villages are those which have tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and are of high historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, social and economic value.
Lists of traditional villages have been made by multiple ministries since 2012 to better protect them. There are more than 4,100 villages in the lists.
Along with some 1,550 villages from around the country, including the famous Xihulin Village in the Mentougou District in Beijing, the listed villages in Anhui will enjoy national subsidies for the protection and maintenance of ancient buildings.
