Vice premier Wang Yang visited the Anhui pavilion at the 9th Central China Expo in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, on Monday.
The 504-square-meter pavilion presents the latest achievements the province has made in carrying out the innovation-driven strategy and upgrading industrial set-ups.
While trying the advanced face recognition system and watching a performance by intelligent voice robots and a presentation by a real-time translation system in the iFlytek booth, Wang encouraged the company to use the voice technology in more areas and launch more products.
Then the premier asked about a hybrid car that had a carbon monocoque, voicing his hope that the producer, Chery Automobile Co., would accelerate the application of up-to-date technologies and improve its core competitiveness.
In the booth of Anhui Quantum Communication Technology Co., Wang was briefed on the latest development of quantum communication technology. Delighted at the news that one of its products was used in the banking sector, Wang urged the company to speed up the commercialization of research findings.
Wang's visit came before he delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the expo. Reform and opening up should be promoted in Central China to make the region distinctive and developed, he said.
The expo, running from May 18 to 20, aims to boost trade in six Central China provinces - Henan, Shanxi, Hubei, Anhui, Hunan and Jiangxi - and draw domestic and foreign investment into the region.
