Qimen Black Tea preserved for 100 years

Qimen, a county in East China's Anhui province, is always associated with a type of tea known as Qimen Black Tea, which won the gold medal at the Panama Pacific International Exposition in 1915. The small county is impressing the world again with tea leaves picked up a century ago.

In early March, 2015, a 64-year-old villager showed a box of Qimen Black Tea which had been kept for around 100 years at a local ceremony marking the gold-winning centennial. Wrapped in an exquisitely-made wooden box with a tin seal inside, the tea, brown, remains in surprisingly fine condition. Zheng Jianxin, a tea expert, however, suggested the tea was preserved too long to drink.
