Starting April 14, some high-speed rails are offering discount tickets for business, deluxe, and first-class seats on G-trains for the routes between Beijing and Shanghai as well as Beijing and Guangzhou.
Five southbound high-speed trains from Beijingnan Station to Hefei have joined in the discount at 20% off. With the discount, the fares for business, deluxe and first-class seats are respectively reduced to 1,080 yuan, 652 yuan and 576 yuan. However, the discount tickets are basically only available for the trains running from Monday to Thursday, exclusive of the long weekends for the May Day holiday and the Dragon Boat Festival, and exclusive of the week before the coming May Day holiday.
Also starting April 14, passengers can book tickets online or by telephone for the trains departing before May 3. At the mean time, ticket agencies are selling tickets for the trains departing before May Day. According to the railway authority, most of the passengers during the May Day holiday period at Hefei Railway Station are likely to be short or medium distance travelers, and those taking high-speed as well as EMU trains will account for a major proportion of the passenger flow increase. It is expected that peak passenger flow will occur on April 30.
