At present, 33 at or above provincial level development zones have been set up in Anhui Province, of which, 3 are development zones (parks) of national-level, namely, Hefei New & High Tech Development Zone, Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone and Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone. In addition, Anhui has an export-processing zone of national recognition, i.e.: Wuhu Export-processing Zone. Enjoying the preferential policies stipulated by the state and province, all various development zones in the province have developed rapidly, including the economic and technological development zones, the high and new technological industrial development zones, and the export processing zones, and have gradually become the prime investment destination. At present, a group of fast-thriving industries have been essentially formed up, ranging from electronic information, electric-mechanism, biological, medical and medicinal, motor vehicles and their spare parts, to new building materials. In Anhui, as with other provinces, various kinds of economic zones underpin the competitiveness of most industries.
