WUHAN/HEFEI/GUIYANG, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Downpours are continuing to hit several Chinese provinces.

In central China's Hubei Province, days of rainfall has caused water levels in five major lakes to exceed the flood season limit. So far, authorities have released 900 million cubic meters of water from 13 sites of the lakes.

The provincial department of water resources has initiated an emergency response.

In the eastern province of Anhui, a fresh spell of heavy rainfall is likely to cause floods in the Huaihe River, authorities said. By 8 a.m. Sunday, water at a hydrologic station had exceeded the danger level, while that in four reservoirs had surpassed the flood season limit.

The southwestern province of Guizhou has forecast 10 days of rain, and authorities have issued alerts in 44 counties, cities and districts. Enditem
