With its overall automation rate hitting 97.5 percent, the advanced
production plant of China's electric vehicle maker Nio in Hefei –
capital of East China's Anhui province – is said to rank among the
world's leading vehicle manufacturing facilities. According to Yang Yi, assistant to Nio's general manager, the factory
is producing China's first light-weight aluminum body with a weight of
merely 335 kilograms per unit. At present, 20 vehicles an hour are completed and in July this year,
Nio celebrated the 50,000th vehicle to have come off the production line
at the Hefei plant. The plant is a joint venture with JAC Motors, a
State-owned automobile manufacturer in China, established in 2016, Yang
said. He said that with regards to Hefei's high-tech achievements, this is just the tip of the iceberg. In China Speech Valley in Hefei National High-tech Industry
Development Zone, major breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies –
including new-generation artificial intelligence, intelligent speech,
intelligent customer service and wearable equipment – are being made. iFlytek, a top tech firm in China Speech Valley, for example, has
been exploring AI technology in multiple areas – including translations,
politics and the law, city management, life, healthcare and education. The company's educational products now range from teaching to
learning and are now utilized in more than 35,000 schools all over
China, serving over 100 million teachers and students. The system can
help teachers improve the learning of their students and provide
corresponding help. In the field of medical care, iFlytek has developed a system that
passed the national qualification exams for medical practitioners and
this system is currently providing diagnostic assistance to many
community hospitals that have less medical resources, a company
spokesman said.
