East China’s Anhui province aims to build 25, 000 5G base stations and have its public facilities covered by 5G this year, the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Anhui said, citing a document on priorities in the annual development of 5G.

The document proposed 35 measures in six aspects including infrastructure construction, industrial development and 5G applications.

The province will accelerate the construction of 5G infrastructure and 5G networks to have its major public venues and various public facilities such as subways, railway stations, bus stations and government buildings covered by 5G within this year, according to the document.

Meanwhile, more than five development zones will be covered by 5G.

The province will also boost the development of 5G industries. It will increase investment in research and development of 5G-related products, speed up 5G industrial projects and step up efforts to nurture some enterprises and industrial parks.

In addition, a provincial-level 5G industry alliance will be built.

The document also called for the integrated development of 5G and traditional industries.
