Yangtze River Delta Builds Innovation Community

Shanghai and Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces will work together to carry out major scientific and technological innovation tasks under a cooperative agreement reached recently.

The municipality and provinces signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement for Accelerating the building of Regional Innovation Community in the Yangtze River Delta Region, entering a new stage for the regional innovation community.

Under the agreement, they will work together to serve the national strategy of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, promote the country's major scientific and technological innovation tasks, and build an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The region will cooperate in building “big science” facilities, including a protein research center, Shanghai Light Source, Hefei Synchrotron Radiation, and super-calculation centers in Shanghai and Wuxi.

Sci-tech resource sharing platforms as well as a technology market alliance will be set up in the region. In addition, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui will jointly launch an international innovation contest, according to the document.
