There are vast plains of bamboo thriving in Longqiao town, Lujiang county, Hefei city, Anhui province. Located near Dabie Mountains, Lujiang boasts abundant bamboo resources. The county has a bamboo forest area of 300,000 mu (0.067 hectares), with annual output of 5 million bamboo plants and 20,000 tons of winter bamboo shoots, spring bamboo shoots and whip bamboo shoots, worth more than 100 million yuan ($15.41 million). According to the principle of “building base on mountains, processing at the foot of the mountains and expanding market outside the mountains”, the county develops deep processing of bamboo products, and realizes the overall use from bamboo shoots to bamboo, which is a path of green development and facilitates economies.(Photo by Liu Yucai)
