A new institute cofounded by Anhui
University in east China and the State University of New York at Stony
Brook (SBU) was inaugurated as the first group of students attended the
school opening ceremony Wednesday. Named
the Stony Brook Institute at Anhui University, the institute enrolled
300 students starting from the fall semester of 2020. The students will
be studying in three majors, namely applied physics, applied statistics
and digital media technology, according to a source of Anhui University. Students will be granted degrees from both universities after graduation, said the source. As
one of the four university centers of the State University of New York
system, SBU is a member of the Association of American Universities, and
is well-known for majors such as mathematics, physics and computer
