Anhui province registered $22.16 billion in foreign trade value in the Jan-Apr period, ranking 12th in China and 1st among Central China’s six provinces, statistics from the Department of Commerce of Anhui Province showed. The province’s foreign trade totaled $22.16 billion during the first four months this year, up 3.3 percent from the same period a year ago. Exports reached $12.03 billion, up 1 percent, while imports rose 6.1 percent to $10.13 billion. Anhui’s growth rate of foreign trade was 10.8 percentage points higher than the national average between January and April. Its imports and exports made up 1.7 percent of the national total, compared with 1.53 percent in the same period last year. Exports of mechanical and electrical products reached $7.23 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent. Exports of high-tech products climbed 7.7 percent to $3.25 billion. Imports of mechanical and electrical products totaled $4.01 billion, up 22.7 percent. Resource imports stood at $2.82 billion, down 14.3 percent. Private enterprises posted an 8.8 percent year-on-year rise in foreign trade value. Their imports and exports reached $11.0 billion, or 49.7 percent of the provincial total. Foreign-funded companies’ imports and exports rose 3.7 percent to $6.34 billion. Meanwhile, state-owned enterprises, whose foreign trade value stood at $4.82 billion, saw an 8.1 percent fall. The province’s foreign trade with countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached $5.2 billion from January to April, up 5.3 percent. Imports increased 2.5 percent to $3.84 billion, while exports went up 14.3 percent to $1.36 billion.
