Dabie Mountain forest-related project approved by government

A project involving forests in Dabie Mountains in Anhui province has been approved by the Anhui Provincial Government recently.

For the first time, the project introduced loans from European lnvestment Bank(EIB) to carry out sustainable operation, biodiversity protection, capacity building and infrastructure construction in some urban areas of Anqing and Lu'an.

The sustainable forest management area is 9829 hectares. The total investment of the project is 582.4 million yuan, of which 40 million euros (about 288.76 million yuan) is borrowed from European Investment Bank as a loan.

The provincial government requires relevant counties and districts to complete the project on time, with quality and quantity guaranteed,and to increase the technicality of the project and improve the professional quality of the staff. (By Li Renjian)
