More than 700 enterprises in East China’s Anhui province will attend the upcoming 127th China Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair, local authorities said at a press briefing on Monday. The fair, widely known as a barometer of China’s foreign trade, was previously hosted twice a year in Guangzhou, capital of South China’s Guangdong province. It will be held online from June 15 to 24 this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be 50 exhibition sections covering 16 major categories of commodities. The fair will feature online exhibitions and live-streaming promotions. The Department of Commerce of Anhui Province will give those enterprises training in uploading pictures and videos of exhibits and designing contents of live-streaming rooms, Zhu Dan, deputy head of the department said. Zhu added the department will work together with e-commerce platforms including alibaba.com, globalsources.com and made-in-China.com to launch an online export fair with the aim of helping local exporters seek overseas buyers amid the pandemic.
