Anhui's trade with the US grew 20.6 percent year on year to hit 57.79 billion yuan ($8.74 billion) in the first three quarters this year, 7.5 percentage points higher than the eastern Chinese province’s foreign trade growth during the same period, customs data showed.
The province’s exports to the US reached 45.11 billion yuan during the Jan-Sept period, up 13.9 percent year on year, while imports stood at 12.68 billion yuan, up 52 percent, Hefei Customs said.
Anhui exported 27.62 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products to the US, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.1 percent. Its labor-intensive exports totaled 11.07 billion yuan, up 20.3 percent.
From January to September, the province’s agricultural imports from the US surged 261.1 percent year on year to 5.9 billion yuan, accounting for 46.5 percent of the total imports from the US.
Mechanical and electrical imports stood at 4.25 billion yuan, down 7.3 percent from the same period a year ago.
