Anhui’s foreign trade volume reached $56.45 billion in the first three quarters this year, up 10.2 percent from the same period a year ago, local authorities said on Monday. The volume brought the province to the 12th place in China and the first spot in the Central China region, according to the Department of Commerce. Exports reached $33.02 billion, up 9.9 percent, while imports stood at $23.43 billion, up 10.7 percent. The province ranked 4th in the Jan-Sept period in terms of year-on-year growth in foreign trade. Mechanical and electrical exports totaled $19.16 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 13 percent. High-tech exports rose 14.3 percent to $8.87 billion. Meanwhile, mechanical and electrical imports reached $9.33 billion, up 22.4 percent, statistics showed.
