The Anhui Cross-Border E-Commerce Headquarters and the Anhui Cross-Border E-commerce Innovation and Service Center were inaugurated in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, on September 27.
Cross-border e-commerce is one of the nine major industries in the Hefei Area of the newly-established Anhui Pilot Free Trade Zone. Located in the Shushan district, the Anhui Cross-Border E-Commerce Headquarters cover an area of 83 mu (5.3 hectares). With a total investment of 800 million yuan ($117.28 million), the project has already been completed. “The headquarters plan to attract more than 100 cross-border e-commerce headquarters as well as upstream and downstream enterprises, and register $1 billion in foreign trade value,”an official said. Since the Hefei Cross-Border E-Commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone opened in 2016, the city has improved its business environment and innovated the way of regulation, and cross-border e-commerce has become an important engine for the city’s development into a hub of opening-up in inland areas. The State Council released plans for the establishment of pilot free trade zones in Beijing, Anhui and Hunan last week, bringing the number of the country’s FTZs to 21. Covering an area of 119.86 square kilometers, the Anhui Pilot Free Trade Zone consists of the Hefei Area, the Wuhu Area and the Bengbu Area.
