Anhui-US foreign trade up 20.6% in H1

The Anhui-US foreign trade totaled 35.83 billion yuan ($5.12 billion) in the first half of this year, up 20.6 percent year on year, customs data showed.

The growth was 11.6 percentage points higher than the eastern Chinese province’s total foreign trade value during the same period, Hefei Customs said.

Anhui ‘s exports to the United States reached 27.29 billion yuan, up 7.5 percent, while its imports from the country surged 98 percent year on year to 8.54 billion yuan.

The province’s exports to the US fell first and then rose in the Jan-Jun period, reaching the peak in May. In June alone, the exports increased 7.4 percent to 5.74 billion yuan.

Anhui’s imports from the US kept growing fast in the first half of this year. In June alone, the imports stood at 1.75 billion yuan, up 1.2 folds year on year.

The province exported 17.42 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products to the US between January and June, up 6.5 percent. Meanwhile, it imported 3.97 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products from the US, up 3.1 folds. Agricultural imports from the US rose more than 3 folds in the first half of this year.
