Huizhou folk songs originated from Tunxi, Huizhou and Huangshan districts, and Shexian, Yixian, Xiuning, and Qimen counties. Huizhou folk song was formed in the labor production of ancestors, and it was first appeared in work songs. In addition, the folk songs include mountain song, ditty, folk custom, song and dance, and nursery rhyme. According to regions, Huizhou folk songs can be divided into Shexian folk song, Jixi folk song, Xiuning folk song, Yixian folk song and Qimen folk song. "Haha accent", the most special feature of Huizhou folk songs, requires the singer's voice to be high, bright, sweet and pure, with smooth breath. "December Flower","Pastoral Song" and "Four Seasons song" are the representative works of Huizhou folk songs. Huizhou folk song was listed in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage project in June 2008. Regarding as the product of Huizhou culture, Huizhou folk songs have many research values, it can provide strong evidences for exploration and discussion of Huizhou social history, folk custom and regional culture.However, due to special geographical environment and historical evolution, coupled with the diverse styles of Huizhou dialects, Huizhou folk songs are now facing inheritance crisis.
